Traditional Italian Chocolate Salami

Chocolate salami is one of the most popular no-bake Italian desserts, made with dark chocolate, cookies, eggs, butter and sugar. 

INGREDIENTS

– Plain cookies.  – unsalted butter  – 70% dark chocolate – eggs or milk  – granulated sugar – Rum (optional) – icing sugar for decoration

How to Make It

Melt the Chocolate

Place the cookies in a food bag and crush them using a rolling pin. Then in a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate.

Make a cream with the butter at room temperature and the sugar.

Add the eggs or the milk, depending 0n your preferences. Mix well until you get a smooth homogeneous cream.

Add the chocolate

Now add the chocolate and the Rum (optional). Mix until the mixture becomes perfectly homogeneous.

Add the chocolate cream to the crushed biscuits and mix.

Then roll it in the baking paper and close to form a large cylindrical candy.

Place the mixture on a baking sheet and, using your hands, shape it into a log.

Now roll it up in a sheet of aluminum. Place Chocolate Salami to cool in the fridge for at least 4 hours until firm.

Cover with icing sugar and tie it with some twine. Serve Chocolate Salami cut into slices, just like a real salami!
